Beaches and Holiday resorts on Santorini island
Santorini is beautiful and unique for its architecture and landscapes, as sea and beaches does not offer the colors of the sea that can be seen on the other Greek islands simply because it is of volcanic origin. It has several beaches and resorts. Beaches are mainly of pebbles, gravel, sand and black volcanic stones. Sea-side resorts are located in the south-east of the island. Perivolos, Perissa and Kamari are the best known .
The area of Perissa and Perivolos is full of hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, room rentals, sports and more. The beach of Perissa presents the 7 km long promenade that connects virtually Perissa to Perivolos. Both beaches are a mixture of dark sand and gravel, equipped with sun loungers and parasols. Perivolos is a wonderfull endless beach, ideal when north winds are blowing with a litle lighter sand than Perissa.
Perivolos is the place to have a great time in the well organized beach bars and restaurants. Beach bars are lots of fun, they combine a “day club scene” with swimsuits, beach volley and happenings. At the end of the resort, near the lighthouse you will find the beach Mesa Pigadia, a small cove with a pebble beach big dark. The sea at this beach is the clearest of the island. This is one of the many hidden spots for swimming near the extreme nature of the island in the area of Akrotiri.
Red and White beach
The Red Beach near Akrotiri can be reached either by boat from Perissa or by foot from Akrotiri. The view of this beach is beautiful, the sea is crystal clear, even if it can not express his color because of its dark background. On the beach there is just a ocasional fruit seller, there are no other services. From the Red Beach suggest you take the boat to the white beach. White beach is a very small bay, great place for swim surrounded by huge white rocks that increase the sense of isolation.
The tourist resort of Kamari is a tourist hotspot situated on the southeast side of Santorini. This area is famous for its beautiful beach extends all the way to Monolithos and for its green landscape. The place is very popular with tourists, offers a wide choice of hotels, apartments and studios as well as restaurants, bars and shops. Its beach is dark with small pebbles and shallow water.
From Kamari you can go visit the Ancient Fira from Hellenistic-Roman. The beach of Monolithos and is located to the north of Kamari. It is a sandy beach in a lighter color than the other with the shallow sea, ideal for families with small children. To the north of the island is the beach of Cape Colombo, one of the most isolated beaches and of the island.
